“Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.” Hebrews 12:12-13
God is Good! Praise Him for doctors, medicine, and technology. He is able to heal in an instant (John 5) and He also heals in a process (2 Kings 5).
I tore my meniscus working out, but then because of wear and tear on my cartilage and the fact I’m knock-kneed, I had to have an osteotomy where they cut my bone, put a donated wedge of bone in to straighten the leg, then cover it with a plate and screws.
My surgeons, Dr. Lowe and Dr. Mansour, did a great job and the staff at Memorial Hermann Orthopedic and Spine Hospital have been wonderful.
Recovery is going to take awhile. I should be going home today and I’ll be on crutches for at least six weeks, but God is good and will make my paths straight.
My amazing fiancée has taken such good care of me and he and my support network have covered me with prayers and love. And will continue to support me through the next few months.
Prayers are appreciated. I’m a natural do-it-myselfer, very independent, and would much rather be the care taker than the one being taken care of. Being in a situation to rely on others is not my forte, but God is teaching me humility and how we’re stronger together. Please pray blessings for my support system as they care for me. This too shall pass but as is life, it’s the journey that teaches you the most, not the final destination so please pray I pick up all the jewels of wisdom in this season as I heal and come back better for having gone through this.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
