In Joshua 5:13-14 the Commander of the LORD’s army appears to Joshua and when Joshua asks, “Are You for us or for our adversaries?” He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the LORD I have now come.”
Interesting. In the midst of uncertainty between two sides this Man, the Commander of the army of the LORD appears and states no, I’m neither for you or against you, yet I have come.
What was Joshua’s response? He fell to his face and worshiped. He received a revelation that God was so much greater than the fighting around him and that the only proper response was to stop what he was doing and worship.
In the midst of so much division, we must remind ourselves God is FOR all people and calls us all to Him because each one of us are created in His image. May our response be worship. And to bow low in worship, as Joshua did, takes humility.
Oh Lord, give us all humble and contrite hearts that You do not despise and revive us and be near to us. Refresh us with your love and perfect us in it because love never fails and conquers all. May love rule and reign in this land in Jesus’ matchless name. Amen.
